February 2022

  • Preview of London 2022: A special four page preview of London 2022, the international philatelic exhibition scheduled for February 19th to 26th 
     
  • Fakes, Feldpost, forgeries and a suicide: The tale of a senior Austrian postal official, and the controversial Austro-Hungarian Feldpost varieties of World  War One.
     
     

  • Lithuania, the First 90 Days, Part One: David J. Freestone describes how newly independent Lithuania produced its first stamp issues amid a Russian invasion after World War One.
      
  • USA Birds, Satire and Humour, Confessions of a Failed Thematicist, Part 3. The editor highlights USA issues depicting birds and  also his satirical material from the USA.
     
  • Index to Stamp Lover issues of 2021, compiled by Rodney Knight.

  • Meeting Reports.These cover the virtual meetings on 11 December 2021 and 8 January 2022:the January London meeting was cancelled. A Gambia display by Mike Roberts was the main display in December, plus Canadian private airmails presented by Alan Spencer and the Royal Agricultural Show Lincoln presented by Keith Johnson. The main display in January was The 1937 Coronation Omnibus Story given by Brian Livingstone, followed by the Oxford and Cambridge University Stamps given by David Sigee and New Zealand's International Exhibitions by John Biddlecombe.

  • NPS News - Arrangements for a “bring and bid “ sale at our March 12th London meeting are revealed together with a briefing on forthcoming meetings until May.

  • Book Reviews - Detailed and informative reviews are a regular feature of the magazine. In this issue we look at the 2022 SG Part One Commonwealth catalogue and Collect British Stamps, plus works on British P.O,’s in Bangkok, a massive work on Rhodesian philately and Postmarks of the Cameroons.

April 2022

  • The King George VI Neck badge error - Brian Livingstone FRPSL elaborates and explains further how the King’s neck badge appears on some 1937 Coronation issues, and Rhodesian definitives.

  • Lithuania, the first 90 days - Part Two of a detailed examination of the country’s first stamp issues on gaining independence from Russia after the First World War, by David J. Freestone.
     
  • “Getting Up Steam”, Confessions of a failed Thematicist, Part 4 - The final instalment of the editor’s revelations about his thematic collections, this one deals with steam locomotives on stamps and postcards from all over the world.

  • Meeting Reports - There was one virtual meeting, in February , 2022  where the main presentation was the uses of GB postage due stamps presented by David Wilson and a subsidiary displays of Fanning Island and Christmas Island locals by Keith Johnson. The  London display in March was not the City of Goslar by Frank Simpson  as originally billed but Classic USA by the Stamp Lover editor Michael L. Goodman FRPSL. All reports included illustrations of the material both in the report section and on the front cover.

  • NPS News - Following a successful “bring and bid “ auction at our London meeting in March, these will be repeated at future London meetings in May and July. There is also a postal auction catalogue enclosed with the issue.

  • Book Reviews - Detailed and informative reviews are a regular feature of the magazine. In this issue we look at a guide to the collection of the Postal Museum, a detailed work on the Ottoman Posts in the Holy Land, and The Untold  Story of the Lady McLeod issue of Trinidad.

  • Newsmix - This news round-up includes a report on the London 2022 Exhibition, a new exhibition on postcodes at the Postal Museum and the forthcoming Stuart Rossiter Memorial Lecture.
June 2022
  • Fascinating Stories of the World - Briti Deb shows how fables from across the world have been portrayed on stamps.

  • Lithuania, the first 90 days - Part Three of David J. Freestone's history looks at the Second Kaunus Issue.
     
  • Canada's Semi-Official Flights - Alan Spencer gives the history of the Jack V. Elliot Air Service that began in March 1926 to serve the Red Lake goldfields.

  • New Issues - Some stamps marking HM The Queen's Platinum Jubilee and a report on stamps from Poland and Austria showing solditary with Ukraine following the Rissian invasion.

  • Meeting Reports - Full reports on the on-line display "How the German Post Office dealt with Hyperinflation" given Robert Mott on 8 April 2022  and the President's Display "The Crown Colony of Aden" givenm by Michael R Thompson at the Phoenix Centre on Saturday 14 May 2022.
